Geopark De Hondsrug
The area
The Boshuisje is located in peaceful Eeserveen, on the edge of the UNESCO Global Geopark De Hondsrug.
The area is characterised by forests, heathland, peatland and charming Drenthe village greens. From the cabin you walk or cycle straight into nature on an extensive network of trails. Five minutes away by car is Harwi Ceramics, a sculpture garden and lunchroom in Eeserveen. In Borger you'll find the Hunebedcentrum with the largest dolmen in the Netherlands, and in Exloo the sheepfold with Drenthe heath sheep. With children, head for the sabre-tooth trail and the gnome path near Exloo, the treetop walk in Drouwen, the Drouwenerzand amusement park and Wildlands zoo in Emmen. Swim at the Gasselterveld, 't Nije Hemelriek or 't Loomeer near Schoonloo. For a quiet day with a view, climb the lookout tower beside restaurant Poolshoogte in the Odoorn forest.
